Helen includes songs from the Irish tradition including a song from Drogheda � 'sweet Duleek Gate� which tells the story of a girl's love for her sweetheart and her determination to leave the town where 'some speak ill of my young man and more speak ill of me� and her dream of a new life in America, free from spite and begrudgery.

Another strand on the record is songs from the U.S.A. �Rambling Boy�; �Worried Blues; �Tell me, Baby ,Why you been gone so long?� and �Lonesome Day� have embedded themselves in the Irish repertoire.
